El Salvador is the smallest nation by size in Central America. Salvadoran culture is a mix of Native American and Latin American cultures, specifically derived from the Maya, Lenca, Pipil and Cacaopera people. 86.3% of the population is Mestizo. El Salvador is known for its folk art, particularly pottery, and textile work. Woven hammocks are widely produced and exported in large numbers in El Salvador, so the country is often dubbed “The Valley of The Hammocks”.
